HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 4

April 9, 2008 - Admittedly, we're risking our street cred here, but we'd be doing you all a disservice if we didn't pass along reports that Disney is planning a fourth installment in the massively popular tween-targeted High School Musical franchise.
The next installment in the series, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, hits theaters in October. And The Hollywood Reporter scoops that a fourth is already being written.
Stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu are all back for the third flick, but Disney Channel honcho Rich Ross admits it'd be a stretch getting them to appear in another.
"Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not," Ross said. "Will we have some of them? I hope so." THR hints that new characters introduced in HSM3 will likely star in the fourth.

Disney Channel Worldwide president Rich Ross confirmed on Tuesday that they are working on High School Musical 4!The Disney Channel President confirmed on Tuesday that there will be a HSM4, they’ve already started the script!“We are writing ‘High School Musical 4,’ ” Disney Channel Worldwide president Rich Ross confirmed Tuesday after a presentation at a midtown Manhattan recording studio. It’s likely to be a TV movie unlike “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” though that could change.Although not all of the characters will be back, Vanessa said in an interview that HSM3 is the last High School Musical she’s doing.“Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not,” Ross said. “Will we have some of them? I hope so.”
The future for movie's stars - Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) - seems uncertain, with both characters set to go their separate ways at the end of their senior year.Disney bosses hoping to make more money from the couple’s relationship are looking at making a sequel that will follow the lovebirds as they embark on their freshman year in college with more adult problems and their adventures as a couple going to 2 different colleges and living in California. If this 2010 tv movie becomes a reality, then that would mean shooting scenes in California and no East High unless the keep the plot of making Troy and Gabriella visit their old high school and having flashbacks of their previous year at East High.According to a report in The Enqurier, Troy and Gabriella will attend different universities, but they soon start pining for each other and at the end of the movie will re-unite at their old High School where the romance first started.Anyways, Disney should focus on getting High School Musical 3 out of the way, before trying to come up with future HSM projects so quickly. There is plenty of time for that.
